A monotype is a unique, one-of-a-kind print made by applying ink or paint to a smooth, non-absorbent surface (such as glass, metal, or plexiglass) and transferring the image onto paper. Because the image is pressed directly from the plate, it yields exactly one unrepeatable original piece (or until the ink no longer imprints on the paper).
I made exactly two prints from a bull riding event I went to. The first print was just the simple monoprint and the second I used the ghost print to apply the Edgar Dega method using soft pastels and underpainting. I really like the fast paced movements I was able to get from this print.
